RESEARCH AND PROFESSIONAL PUBLICATION AWARD

Thank you for your patience as we worked to improve the criteria and process for the Research and Professional Publication Award.

Please note the following important changes:

First, we have established a new steering committee for the Research and Professional Publication Award. Over the past few months our steering committee has improved the criteria for the award by giving it more structure and depth to help applicants better understand what we are looking for and how their work will be judged.

Second, we have changed our process from batch to flow. In prior years, the deadline for submissions was set for October 1st of each year; we are now accepting submissions year-round. Applicants should now know their recipient status within three months of applying. This will allow recipients to begin promotion of their work much sooner. Formal recognition will continue to be given at our Annual International Shingo Prize Conference.

UPDATED AWARD AND CRITERIA

The Shingo Research Award recognizes and promotes research and writing regarding new knowledge and understanding of lean and operational excellence. Awards are given in four categories: (1) books (monographs), (2) published articles, (3) case studies, and (4) applied publications/multimedia programs.

Only submissions published within the last three years are eligible for consideration. Research or publications submitted should provide new theory or novel application. Reviews, re-statements, textbooks, and/or edited versions will generally not be considered.
