Shingo Educational Philosophy
The Shingo Prize recognizes that true lean transformation requires significant education and training. However, it is vital for organizations to become self sustaining not only in the tools and systems of lean, but also in the development of their own people. For this purpose, The Shingo Prize offers face-to-face training workshops intended to provide organizational leaders with the necessary understanding of The Shingo Prize Model and its principles, systems and tools. In addition, we are developing online courses to enable organizations to take control of the training for the entire organization, without having to develop all of the material. These online courses can even be customized to incorporate the existing culture of an organization to allow them to make the training their own.

Created and delivered by Gwendolyn Galsworth, a leading visual expert and author of the award-winning book of the same name, Visual Workplace~Visual Thinking introduces you to basic Visual Workplace terms, concepts, principles, and frameworks. In the process, you will have a chance to consider nearly 250 actual visual solutions and learn about the various categories of visual function found in a comprehensive visual environment.

You also begin to determine your current visual strengths and challenges and build your insight into visuality as a powerful partner on your journey to enterprise excellence. If you already know that, then be prepared to have that knowledge deepened and extended.

If you work in venues other than the ones shown in this course—whether hospital, bank, office, deep resource mine, government agency, retail store, or restaurant—this course will help you understand how and why workplace visuality fits into and supports operations in those settings as well.
